Mississippi Scholars and Mississippi Tech Masters Program
Walthall County first participated in the Mississippi Scholars and Mississippi Tech Masters Program in 2018 and 23 seniors from Tylertown High School and Salem Attendance Center were awarded scholarships.
The Mississippi Scholars Initiative is an education program managed by the Public Education Forum of Mississippi, which utilizes business leaders to motivate students to complete a rigorous course of study in high school. This program has been very successful in many counties in the state of Mississippi and has played a vital part in students’ education by encouraging them to set goals and achieve them. In order to qualify, students must have a 95% attendance in high school, minimum of 18 on ACT, 2.5 GPA, and no out-of-school suspensions.
